After arrival in La Baule, first stop our fantastic beach to get a sun-tan! Plenty of supervised activities for the kids, where they can be safely left, while you laze around and do nothing for a few days!
Having spent a few days on the beach, why not try something a little more active? All around La Baule bay can be found numerous water sports. For instance, shown here on the left you could try catamaran sailing, launching from the beach at Pornichet. Available elsewhere around our bay you will find water-skiing and jet-skiing.
In the event of bad weather, or even if it's nice, why not try Indoor Go-Karts at 'Karting Côte d'Amour', in the Zone Industrielle Villejames, Guérande. They have a covered track 450m long - come and try to beat the stopwatch!! Telephone 02- 40-24-76-76, or click below to see their Website:-
If you don't like the beach or water sports, for the pleasure of the eyes (and the pain of the wallet guys!!!) we have several "chic" shopping avenues, the best of which is "Avenue Charles de Gaulle", seen here at right. This avenue is full of boutiques, shoe shops, restaurants etc etc. If you have any money left after your shopping expedition, you could try to win it all back again, at one of the Casinos we have!! One is located at La Baule, and the other at Pornichet.
For something a little different, for craft shops selling goods made in our region, the beautiful old medieval walled town of Guérande that you see here on the right has a warm welcome waiting for you!
Into the air now!! Take a microlight flight with us here. Simply to see the region, or to learn to fly. Aerial photographers welcome!! Kids from age 7, no maximum age if in good health. Flights are available all year round, 7 days a week, bank holidays included.
Or it's possible to take an air experience flight in a light aircraft over our region, or indeed have a trial lesson. To find out more, call La Baule aerodrome direct on: 0033-240-602383, or click on the button below to visit the website of the Aéroclub de la Côte d'Amour.
For those who like to see things of a more technical/industrial nature, only 6 miles away we have one of the few remaining major European shipbuiding ports at St Nazaire, where large passenger- boat contracts are still being won, like that for the new "Queen Mary 2". There are also the WW2 U-Boat pens to visit. Only 2 miles further on is St Nazaire airfield with it's "Aerospatiale" factory on site. This is where sections of the various types of Airbus are made before being flown on to Toulouse by "Beluga" (like a Super Guppy) to be completed. In this rare photograph on the right, you can see the two major products of our region at the same time.
