There are a lot of reasons you can find to visit La Baule and the surrounding regions! The best reason of course is to experience our wonderful beach, reckoned to be one of the best in Europe, as can be seen in the photograph below............
....5 miles of golden sand!! Around our bay are, in fact three towns. Le Pouliguen on the west side of the bay, La Baule in the centre, and Pornichet on the east. The photo above is taken from the Le Pouliguen end of the bay, looking towards La Baule.
All three towns are well worth a visit during your holidays. At right here is shown La Baule beach early one morning before it's got busy. You can see how beautiful the sand is here.
This shot on the left shows a quiet beach but with a lot of sailing activity visible out to sea.
At left a photo of the eastern end of the seafront at Pornichet.Along with the photo on the right taken in La Baule itself, and the one below in Le Pouliguen early one summer evening, it can be seen how the authorities here really place importance on the appearance of our three towns round the bay.
That's not to say of course that there aren't plenty of other places to visit near to the three towns around the bay. To start with, there's the "Marais-Salants" (salt-marshes) between Le Pouliguen and Guérande, if you fancy getting away from it all, and a change from the beach. The fantastic variety of colours there can be seen in this aerial photo on the right. La Baule bay can be seen in the background.
A little further away is the walled town of Guérande, which can be seen in this aerial view on the left. You can see why, with this aerial view and the one above, that taking a trip in a microlight aircraft with us is a great idea to see the whole region.
Once you get to Guérande, you will find a stunningly pretty medieval walled town, seen here on the left floodlit early evening. Well worth a trip!!
Clockwise from the left:
1) For those of a more technical nature, visit St Nazaire less than 10 miles east with it's major shipbuilding facility, seen here floodlit at night.

2) For something more peaceful, around 10 miles to our North you will find the National Park 'La Grand Brière' an inland freshwater marsh which is criss-- crossed by small canals which you can visit by barge. It is also a bird sanctuary.

3) About the same distance west, the pretty port of Le Croisic

4) For any prepared to venture a little further afield byeither boat from Le Croisic, or light aircraft/microlight from La Baule airfield, the beautiful island of Belle-île is within easy reach, seen here in silhouette just before arrival in a microlight aircraft.
