Shown here on the right is the Quik GT450 that we are now operating as our principal machine....

People aged from 17 to 66 years old have realised their dreams and learned to fly with us. A number of these are people converting from light aircraft to microlights, because flying microlights is cheaper and more enjoyable! Those coming to us from light aircraft are often concerned that a microlight will be primitive in comparison. The photo of the instrument display of our latest arrival to the left shows both them and newcomers to the sport that this is certainly not the case!

The Quik GT450 is hand-built by P&M Aviation of Rochdale, Lancs. You can visit their Website by using the link on our "P&M Aviation Range" page. It has a 100hp 4-stroke engine, and is capable of flying at up to 20,000ft!! The level flight speed range is from 40mph to 95mph. In a dive, the maximum permitted speed is 115mph. The Quik GT450 can climb at over 1200ft/min at maximum weight. Shown here on the right is Phil returning from it's first test flight....

The fuel capacity is 65litres of unleaded motor fuel, with a fuel consumption of around 8litres/hr at training speeds of 60-65mph, rising to around 13litres/hr at the 85mph cruise speed used when flying between the UK and France fully loaded with luggage. The aircraft range depends on the flying speed, but when training it is around 500miles, dropping to 350miles at 85mph when on the UK-France trip.

The overall running costs of this aircraft (and any flexwing microlight) are comparable to a family car. Look at costs of around £25/hr instead of £50 to £150/hr for a light aircraft! The aircraft can be rigged or derigged from its trailer in less than 40mins, avoiding hangarage charges. It can be stored at home in a normal garage. Flying a flexwing microlight like Anglais-Volant's Quik GT450 is far, far more exhilarating than flying a light aircraft (not to mention much cheaper). The photograph below of our second aircraft, a Blade 912, taken near La Baule, gives some idea of the joy of this type of flying.
